For 2024, Athletico will bring a new coach, while Wesley will be on the technical committee. "What we've been talking about is they're gonna hire another coach, but I'm gonna stay at the club. The president will still see the function," he said, after the 3rd victory over the Santos. "It depends more on the club than on me, but the club recognizes what I've been doing and my commitment."

At Athletico, Wesley Carvalho had his first experience as coach of a national first division team. Before that, he was a technical assistant – he has been in Athletico since the beginning of 2022 and was also in Palm trees, 2018. He also coached under-20 teams from Vitoria and Palm trees.

"I already had an experience within football, but it is completely different this experience, with external pressure, you being ovated and also being criticized," Carvalho said. "I think the hardest thing is not knowledge and content, but this whole context that involves football in the country and ends up being an extension of intolerant and impatient society. We create an expectation and when it doesn't happen we look for someone to blame. In football, that someone is the coach."
