Athletico Paranaense is the 2024 Paranaense champion. The title was won on Saturday (day 6) in the afternoon, with 3–0 victory over Maringá, in the Arena da Baixada – Ligga Arena, in the match back from the final. In the one-way game in Maringá, the capital team won 1–0 and only had to draw home to raise the trophy. The interior team had to win by a goal of difference to take the decision to the penalty. The champion of 2024 took the Gil Rocha trophy, which was named after the journalist who died in 2023.
This was the 28th state title of Athletico in history and the second consecutive – was undefeated champion in 2023. The conquest crowns the centenary of the club, celebrated on March 26, 2024.
MARINGA
Founded in 2010, Maringá competed in the final for the third time (was vice in 2022 and 2014) and sought the unpublished title.
INVENCIBILITY
The final defeat of Athletico as the head of an interior team in the Paranaense Championship was on February 27, 2022 – 2 to 1 for the Workers.
Overall, against all opponents and all competitions, Athletico has not lost in the Arena da Baixada since July 2023, when it took 2 to 0 of Flamengo, for the quarter-final Copa do Brasil. Since then, there have been 13 wins and 9 draws on the spot.
For the Paranaense Championship, the last home defeat was on March 23, 2022 – 2 to 1 for the Coritiba, by the semifinal. In 2023, the team was an undefeated champion and added seven wins and two draws at home. By 2024, it was already 7 wins and 2 draws in the red-black stadium.
