O Athletic will count on important reinforcements for the attack to the duel with Cerro Porteño, on Thursday (18), at 9:30 p.m., in Paraguay. The trio of attackers Canobbio, Nikon and Mastriani is available to coach Martín Varini.
Canobbio returned from Uruguay with the third place in the Copa América. The shirt 14 landed in Curitiba on Monday night (15) and returns to training with the cast on Tuesday (16).
Of the three, he's the one who has the most chance of getting back into full ownership. The attacker spoke to the press at Afonso Pena Airport.
" It was a good experience [Cop America], with companions also of great quality. Now it's about working. We always exchange messages, some players were updating me about what was happening here [of the changes in Athletico]," he told the PRC and the Monique Vilela channel.
"I know him [Varini] of watching Uruguayan football, many people also spoke well of his work. Let's talk, he'll talk about the philosophy he likes to play, and I'll talk too. I am physically prepared to be available to him and the team," he added.
Nikon and Mastriani trained with ball and should be related to Athletico x Cerro Porteño
Nikon and Mastriani must be related to the game, but they will remain as options in the bank. Both were recovering from injuries – thigh and calf, respectively.
The duo trained with ball on Monday (15), but did not perform since the defeat for the Cruise 2 to 0 for the 12th round, June 26. Even for that, the coach must preserve them from the start of the match. Nikon, worth remembering, was enrolled in the tournament last Friday (12), next to the steering wheel Gabriel.
Thus, a probable Athletico has: Benedict; Leo Godoy, Kaique Rocha, Thiago Heleno and Esquivel; Erick, Fernandinho and Zapelli; Christian (Canobbio), Julimar and Pablo (Mastriani).
The Hurricane has two more training sessions (Tuesday and Wednesday mornings) before the trip to the South American playoffs duel to go against Cerro Porteño, an important time for the new coach to make his team adjustments.
The first confrontation will then be on Thursday (15), at 9:30 p.m., at La Nueva Olla Stadium, in Asunción, Paraguay. The return takes place on July 25, also a Thursday, at 9:30 p.m., at the Ligga Arena in Curitiba.
Between the two South American games, Athletico has Bragantino on Sunday (21), at 6:30 p.m., for the 18th round of Brasileirão. After defeat for the Bahia At home, in the last round, Hurricane fell to eighth position, with 25 points. The Brute Mass comes right after, with 22 points. In other words, it's more of a direct confrontation for the Black Ruble.
