Lucho González will not be coaching Athletico in the 2025 season. Coach was informed in the locker room after the defeat against the Atlético-MG which sacramented delegation on the probable decision. Argentine coach leaves the club with three wins in 14 games by Hurricane.
Hired after Martin Varini's resignation, Lucho took six matches before winning for the first time in command. In only two jobs as a coach, former Athletico player accumulates the demos, as he also fell with Ceará in 2022.
In a press conference, technical director Paulo Autuori took responsibility from the coach's back:
"The problem is not Lucho. It's not and it wasn't. The changes in leadership made it impossible to create a group in all respects. "
