Athletico officially hires the attacker Leozinho

The offensive line of Athletico Paranaense. He won another backup for the 2025 season. The attacking Leozinho, 26 years old, signed contract with Athletico until the end of 2026 and the contraction was officialized on the morning of Wednesday (8) by the club.

Leozinho played the 2024 season for Italian. He played 32 for the São Paulo club, 30 of them for the Brazilian Series B.

"To come to Athletico was a very easy decision. It's not an invitation, it's a summons, a summons. The only answer is yes. I was very happy to get here and hope to build a great passage. I know the size of the club and the responsibility it is to wear this shirt. I hope to give enough joy to the fan," says the new red-black player.

From futsal to the field

Before starting his career on the lawns, Leozinho succeeded in futsal. He won several titles by Sorocaba and had frequent presence in the Brazilian national team.

"I've built a beautiful career in futsal. I was considered the best young player in the world for two consecutive years. And then came the opportunity to go to the country, which was always a dream. As much as they are similar sports, it is a difficult transition. But I think I'm on the right track and evolving more and more," he says.

According to Leozinho, futsal training made him improve skills that today are a differential in the field. "The dribble, which is my main feature, especially in situations of short spaces. And also quick thinking," he highlights.

The attacker says his personality is also reflected in the way he plays. "I'm a very fun guy, who has a great desire to win. That was always the difference in my career. I can bring this joy into the field and play this game irreverently and objectively at the same time," he says.

Ready for the challenges

On arrival at CAT Cashew, Leozinho said that the expectation for the debut with the red-black shirt has grown even more and that he can't wait to step on the lawn of Ligga Arena.

"Anxiety is a thousand. I came here and was quite surprised by everything I saw. I just have to prepare to get inside the Arena, make the fan happy and achieve all the goals of the club," he says.
