Eyes on season 2025, the Athletic announced, on Monday (13), the hiring of the quarterback Golden Leo20 years old. The player was in the Athletico-PR, where he did all his training, and landed in São João del-Rei to strengthen the defensive system of the alvinegra team.
The athlete has been part of Hurricane's under-20 team for the past two years. He had resigned from the Paraná club last Sunday (12).
Gold Leo is more of a Squad reinforcement for 2025. The club has made official names such as Wesley Gasolina (lateral), Wallisson (volante), Mateus Gonçalves (attaching), Iarley Barros (attaching) and Alex Amorim (half).
This year, Athletic will play the Brazilian Championship Series B, the Brazilian Cup and the Mineiro Championship.
Athletic punished by Fifa
Despite the hiring, the mining club received, last week, a punishment from Fifa that forbids it to hire new players. The situation was due to Athletic's debt to Moreirense-POR for Wallisson's purchase.
In a statement released last Tuesday (13), the Squadron highlighted that the management was working to solve the problem and that the situation would not prevent the registration of the new reinforcements for the Mineiro Championship.
"We emphasize that what happened will have no impact on the registration of new contracts for the Mineiro Championship, and we continue with our planning unchanged," Athletic reported.
The debut of the team trained by Roger Silva in the season will be against Pouso Alegre, next Saturday (18), at 17h (from Brasília), at Manduduão, in Pouso Alegre, for the first round of the state.
