Athletico goleia Rio Branco and assumes leadership of Paranaense

O Athletico Paranaense won Rio Branco by 5 to 1 on the night of Tuesday (14), at Ligga Arena, in Curitiba, for the 2nd round of the Paranaense Championship 2025. With the triumph, Hurricane leads the competition with 6 points, while the Coastal team follows the flashlight without scoring.

Athletic goals were scored by the centroavantes Di Yorio (two) and Matheus Babi (two), with the tip Luiz Fernando completing the score. Argentinian Lucas Di Yorio is the club's goalkeeper in 2025, with 3 goals in 2 games, adding 12 goals in 39 matches since his arrival.

The Athletic mastered the first half with an offensive posture and much freedom for the steering wheels and sides. The score was opened at 36 minutes, in Di Yorio's head after corner charged by Zapelli. Luiz Fernando expanded to 40, with a kick from outside the area. Rio Branco discounted at 45, with Vidal enjoying a rebound in the area.

Second Time

In the second half, Hurricane controlled the rhythm and scored the third goal with Di Yorio, after crossing Palacios. Replaced by Matheus Babi at 20 minutes, the Argentinean left the field applauded. The fourth goal came at 44 minutes, in counterattack pulled by Léo Derik, with completion of Matheus Babi. At 47, Babi closed the draw by taking advantage of the goalie's rebound.

Highlights and Changes in Time

Technician Maurício Barbieri maintained the tactical scheme 4-2-3-1, with Zapelli centralized and Di Yorio as a centralavante. The substitutions included the entrances of Falcão, Kayke (16 years old from the base), Léo Derik and Arriagada.
