TJD-PR increases to 12 the number of athletes punished for conflict in Athletiba; Check out the sanctions

The Court of Sports Justice of Paraná (TJD-PR) ruled on the appeals submitted by Athletico and Coritiba related to the punishments of players involved in the confusion during the classic Atletiba. The game, which ended from 0 to 0 on January 25, valid for the Paranaense Championship, was marked by scenes of violence after the end of the match.

The TJD-PR maintained the punishments for athletes from both teams and, in addition, included new sanctions. The goalkeeper Matheus Soares and half Zapelli, initially acquitted, were penalized. Zapelli received seven suspension games, while Matheus Soares was punished with six matches.

Athletic football director Rodrigo Possebon and administrative manager Eder Chibior were also suspended for 90 days. The club was still fined in R$ 5 thousand for the use of flares by the fans and other R$ 5,000 for the invasion of leaders in the field. Athletico has announced that he will refer the decision to the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) and will request suspensive effect.

The Coritiba had the punishment of losing the field order in three games revoked, but was fined in R$ $100,000 for a case of racial injury committed by a fan. The club was forced to disclose the name of the offender in 24 hours and forbid him from attending stadiums for five years.

  • Philip Machado: 10 games suspension
  • Jamerson: 10 games
  • Rodrigo Ice Cream: 10 games
  • Joshua: 10 games
  • Brumado Junior: 8 games
  • Sebá Gómez: 10 games

Punishments for Athletic Players:

  • Fernando: 10 games
  • Puppy: 10 games
  • Mycael: 10 games
  • Isaac: 2 games (done)
  • Zapelli: 7 games
  • Matheus Soares: 6 games

In total, 12 athletes from both teams were punished, nine of whom had been expelled by referee Selmo Pedro dos Anjos Neto during the game. The TJD-PR also recommended the suspension of the referee for 30 days.

Punishments were applied based on two articles of the Brazilian Sports Justice Code (CBJD). Article 254-A, which deals with "physical aggression practice during the match", provides for suspension of four to 12 games. Article 257, which addresses "participation in strife, conflict or turmoil", establishes punishment of six to ten suspension matches.
