Athletico-PR announced that the synthetic lawn of the Arena da Baixada had its quality certified by FIFA. On Tuesday (3), the club received the renewal of the FIFA Quality Pro certificate, which ensures the adequacy of the floor for official games until February 2, 2027.
Despite the approval of the maximum football entity, Hurricane decided to complete the field replacement. The decision was made instead of opting for maintenance, in order to resolve the issues that have generated recent criticism.
Currently, the lawn, installed in 2016 and that made the Athletico-PR pioneer in Brazil with this type of floor, has a browner tone. This is due to the high concentration of coconut fiber in its composition, a material that has caused slips and affected the performance of athletes. With almost a decade of use, the useful life of the synthetic floor also weighed in the decision to exchange, which will take place from June 1st this year, during the break for the World Cup.
