Flamengo and Vitor Pereira are fined by Conmebol

O Flamengo seeks to recover after losing four titles in less than three months this season. However, the Rubro-Negra team had an important victory last Monday (13), when they defeated the Vasco by 3 to 2 and came closer to advance to the decision of the Carioca Championship. Now, the Dearest only needs a draw in the next confrontation with the Maltino Cross to win a spot in the state final.

However, despite this victory, the club's president, Rodolfo Landim, received unpleasant news: the team was fined by Conmebol for delay in the match back against Independiente Del Valle, in Quito, by Recopa. The South American entity has been very strict with teams that delay the beginning of the second half. Both Flamengo as Vítor Pereira, team technician, were fined 70 thousand dollars (about R$ 372,000) for Conmebol.

Although the Flamengo having paid off the debt, discounting the value of the transmission rights, the club cheers expressed outrage at the punishment of the entity. Some fans pointed out that Conmebol has been strict with the Rio club, but does not act the same way with clubs involved in cases of racism. Others regretted that the club is fined every year by the entity, while some made jokes about the fact that the awards received by the team in Conmebol tournaments seem to serve only to pay the fines.
