Former Flemish closes deal after fatal traffic accident

Former player Flamengo, Ramon, reached an agreement with the prosecutor after being indicted for manslaughter as a result of a traffic accident in which he hit cyclist Jonatas David dos Santos, resulting in his death. The incident occurred on December 4, 2021, in Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Today, the left-hand side defends the Olympiacos of Greece.

According to journalist Isabelle Costa, Ramon will pay R$150 thousand to the National Cancer Institute (INCA) as part of the agreement. After investigations, it was proven that Jonatas crossed the road improperly and the traffic light was open to Ramon's car.

Jonatas' family will also receive compensation, but the figures were not disclosed due to a confidentiality clause.

With regard to Ramon's career, he began to have opportunities on Ramon's main team. Flamengo in 2020, and after good performances, the left side stood out on the team. However, due to out-of-field controversy, the player lost ground at the Rubro-Negro and was loaned to Red Bull Bragantino in April 2022. He couldn't repeat his early career performances and returned to FlamengoBut it was no longer part of the plans of the Rio club.

In January 2023, the Flamengo sold Ramon to Olympiacos for EUR 1,5 million (about R$ 8 million in the quotation of the time). The 21-year-old left side signed a four-year contract, and the Greek club acquired 70% of the athlete's economic rights.
