In recent years Athletico has raised its level on the national and international football scene. Just for example, in the previous two years the team qualified for the finals of the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores da América.
Much of this competitiveness created by the club is due to the management of President Mário Celso Petraglia and his leaders, such as Alexandre Mattos, one of the club's executives.
For Petraglia, the well-resolved administration of Athletico and the fight for titles, caused other Brazilian football teams to ‘envy’ Hurricane.
"We created one of the valuable brands of Brazilian sport and an economic-financial condition envied by all teams."
wrote the president in interview, in a letter published on Wednesday (29).

"I must note that the younger have no idea what Athletic was before this transformation. A club without stadium, without CT, fighting for minor titles and balancing to stay in the first division".
Petraglia commented.
For the next season, Athletico no longer has a mathematical chance of reaching a position in the Libertadors of America, which should interfere with the club's billing.
