"When we entered the post-game prayer wheel, with all desolate, it was not time to seek guilty. They tried! I felt obliged to take full responsibility and make my position available," he said in a statement.

In his statement, Cuca also says that no demand was made publicly: "No demand was made publicly, only within the scope of these [internal] meetings." However, the coach on several occasions requested reinforcements in the public cast, in collective interviews and even quoting names of possible players, such as Gabigol, Keno, Dudu, Jemerson and André Ramalho.

How it all happened

Cuca was already determined to leave the position in the hands of Athletico's board of directors before even addressing the press conference room. That, by the way, was the subject in the coach's conversation with the players moments after the draw, by 1 to 1, against the Corinthians this Sunday, at Ligga Arena, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship.

Before heading for the press conference, the coach gathered the cast in the locker room and said he was out of Athletico. Then he went to the press room of the Ligga Arena, where he would also have Fernandinho's presence, but the participation of the steering wheel was cancelled.

At the press conference, Cuca spoke openly about the conversation he intended to have with Athletico's board of directors to discuss his future. What happened on Monday, when the cast re-enacted to begin the preparation aiming the game against the Cruise, which will be in Belo Horizonte.

The problem is that the words used by Cuca in the interview did not go well with some players and managers. That's because the coach exposed a situation that was treated internally. In this way, everything the technician said to the press did who was in favor of him being opposed after the speech.

As soon as he left the press room at Ligga Arena, Cuca was called by organized cheerleaders who were protesting at the scene, but signaled, with gestures that would not go to them. Then the coach left the stadium.

Petraglia's letter
